We were hungry on a Monday night, so a friend and I stopped into Last Chance Bar & Grill for a few beers and dinner. Here is what we found!
Atmosphere: We rolled in around 7:00 p.m., expecting a pretty light crowd. Were we wrong! The place was hopping, with patrons at the bar, playing pool and eating dinner.
Last Chance Bar & Grill has is a very big place and has a separate pool room, TVs, Juke Box and even a smoking lounge. The bar is really long, and wraps around the entire bar. There are also high boys that match the bar throughout, so plenty of room to sit and relax.
Staff: As you would expect, the waitress seemed to be pissed off at the world or tired or just ready to go home. But once we were waited on, she was our bestie. Apparently there had been some “girl drama” in the bar the night before that she was still stammering over. She was patient with us as we decided what we wanted to eat, and kept coming back frequently. She also gave us fresh beers before ours were empty, the epitome of a great bartender!
Menu: For a dive bar, Last Chance Bar & Grill has a huge menu. There is a full breakfast offering, and for lunch and dinner they offer appetizers, sandwiches, 15 different types of burgers. Beyond your typical burger fare, they offer a black and bleu burger, jalapeno jack burger, slaw burger and even a fire burger (dipped in buffalo sauce).
If you have members of your crew who want to eat light, they even offer salads! The two ladies next to us said their salads were excellent.
Some things you might not expect on the menu were a Smothered Chicken Breast (grilled onions, mushroom, BBQ and mozzarella) or a Tamale Pie.
Our Order for 2! Me: Gourmet Grilled Cheese (tomato & pickle with American & Swiss on whole wheat) Friend: Steak Sandwich (grilled to perfection and topped with provolone, grilled onions and peppers served on a Hoagie roll) and a side salad Drinks: 4 Miller Lites (we were light weights, it was a Monday night…)
Review: The presentation of the food we ordered was so/so. It seemed to be very small portions and a little bland. However, the flavor was really good. Our overall conclusion was that it was OK. We did agree that we will definitely go back, but will probably opt for the burgers instead.
Total Bill: $21.72 plus tip. Our food totaled $13.75 plus a couple rounds of beers.
Recommendation: • Don’t Go! • → → Go when you have a chance! • Go soon! • Clear your calendar and go now!
Overall, the food was pretty good, prices were cheap and the atmosphere was lively and fun.
Overheard: “Dude, I couldn’t concentrate for $&!+… Wait… you were on aderol and were STILL pulling Cs and Ds???? That’s f’d up dude!”
